I happen to use them myself on my puzzle table.
Do puzzle mats work.
It was made of felt so the pieces didn t move at all.
They work okay in my experience.
In my experience it does a good job at keeping the puzzle intact and sticked on but when it came to rolling it up and storing it it felt a bit flimsy.
They are usually constructed of foam you might have heard of jigsaw foam mats or different types of woven fabric.
Then the board folds up leaving your puzzle and pieces undisturbed.
Puzzle mats are one of those ideas that sound great in theory but don t work very well in practice.
Would it be possible to get some sort of large piece of cardboard or poster board and simply slip in under a table or bed.

The only thing was that a big jigsaw got slightly pushed in on itself as it rolled but it wasn t hard to straighten it all out when you unrolled it.

And of course a flat mat is portable as well but you often can t carry these vertically.
You would not want to leave too many loose pieces around the edges in this case though.

On the other hand roll up models require more time and effort when you re putting your puzzle away whereas a flat mat usually zips closed in a flash.
It can be laid out on the floor or dining room table then when you re done working on it for the day it can be rolled up and put away for later.
So you can work the puzzle without a table i like doing them on the bed.
A puzzle mat is the perfect solution.
